Van Gogh’s ‘Head of an Old Peasant Woman with a White Cap’ sold for millions

The painting ‘Head of an old peasant woman with a white hat’ by Vincent van Gogh, which was offered for sale at the TEFAF art and antiques fair, has been sold. The seller confirmed this to a reporter from the ANP on Sunday. The painting was for sale for 5 million dollars (4.57 million euros) and that price was paid for it.

The painting Head of an old farmer’s wife with a white hat was probably painted in Nuenen in 1884. The painting is 63 by 48 centimeters.

‘Night’s sleep’
According to the seller, the new owner is a private individual with a private museum outside Europe. The museum is open to the public. The seller does not want to say exactly which museum it is, because it is up to the new owner to make that known. The seller did want to say that the new owner wanted to sleep on purchasing the painting.
