The Van Gogh Museum has decided to stop publishing the highly sought-after and unique Pikachu Pokémon card. According to the museum, it is not safe enough to continue with the card, which is currently being resold online for high amounts.
Visitors to the Van Gogh could obtain the special card of the face of Pokémon by doing a treasure hunt. It turned out that many fans wanted to have the card in their collection, some came to Amsterdam especially from abroad to obtain the unique card. That was often accompanied by… chaos. Images circulating online showed that the museum shop was occasionally full of pushing and pulling collectors.
“As a result of recent incidents in which a small group of individuals have created an undesirable situation, we have made the difficult decision to no longer make the special Pikachu x Van Gogh Museum promotional card available in the museum,” the museum wrote on its own website. website. “This way, visitors can experience this special collection of paintings and the rest of the museum in a safe and enjoyable way.”
The unique card will not disappear completely, because it will soon be available online. The works of art from the special collaboration will remain on display until January 7. The scavenger hunt continues as well, just without the Pikachu prize at the end.
