A delivery van turned over on the Midden-Brabantweg near Loon op Zand on Friday morning after a tire blowout. Other drivers who passed by the accident filmed the devastation.
The van overturned around 7:30 am and ended up over the guardrail on the other side of the road. The cargo bed of the van came loose, leaving a large number of boxes and crates scattered all over the road.
The drivers who filmed the accident will be fined. “They can soon expect a fine for using their mobile phone while driving,” the Waalwijk police said in a message on Facebook.
Fine of hundreds of euros
The fine for holding a phone while driving is 380 euros. There is also an additional 9 euros administration costs.
To the hospital
The stuff that was littered the road was cleared away by the police, Rijkswaterstaat and the salvage company. The driver was taken to hospital with minor but non-serious injuries.
The accident caused a traffic jam of about fifteen minutes in the direction of Waalwijk to Tilburg.
For several years now, the police have been using a coach to fine people who hold a telephone while driving. You can see how the police work in this video.
