Van der Poel loses pink leader’s jersey in Giro

Mathieu van der Poel lost his pink leader’s jersey on Tuesday. The German Lennard Kämna has won the fourth stage of the Giro d’Italia on the Etna volcano. It was the first stage on Italian soil and also the first with a climb of the highest category.

The number 3 Tom Dumoulin also lost his place at the top of the general classification. Kämna, riding for Bora-hansgrohe, defeated his fellow escapee Juan Pedro López of Trek-Segafredo in the sprint on the flanks of Etna. The Spaniard did become the new leader.
