Mick van den Bree will be the trainer of the women of ZV De Zaan for the next three seasons. This season he was already on the technical staff of the team.
His active career will therefore come to an end for Van den Bree. “I have gone through all national selections since childhood, I played for the national A-team, I have been national champion 3 times and top scorer in the Eredivisie. It’s great. I also have a young daughter, a busy job. all those years you make a decision and last year it became clear to me where my future lies,” said 31-year-old Van den Bree.
Ambitions
The young trainer is ambitious and is clear about what needs to be done “Our youth will have to be given a boost in the coming years to be able to connect better with the national women’s and men’s selections in a natural way. The association will also have to adopt a different policy. I want to contribute to this and the first conversations are already underway. Looking at the youth, we see that the national C-competition only consists of 8 teams. Only a talent center in Eindhoven is not enough. If all goes well, there will be a new one in two years’ time and a big bath in Zaandam, how great would it be if we could play a European final there again!”.
