Botic van de Zandschulp has decided that Sven Groeneveld is his new coach. The Amstelveen tennis player has been without a permanent trainer since February, after he stopped working with Peter Lucassen. Groeneveld will guide Van de Zandschulp from Wednesday, when the Masters tournament in Rome will start.
“My ambitions to grow in the international tennis circuit are clear,” says 27-year-old Van de Zandschulp (number 29 in the world ranking ed.) in conversation with The Telegraph. “Because of Sven’s knowledge and skills on board, I think my support team will receive a serious quality boost.”

In the past, Groeneveld coached world top players such as Roger Federer, Tommy Haas and Maria Sharapova. In recent years he has been the trainer of Bianca Andreescu from Canada.
Van de Zandschulp recently participated in an ATP tournament in Munich and reached the final. Holger Rune was too strong in that. A few days later in Madrid he was already eliminated in the first round by Aslan Karatsev.
