Van de Zandschulp aims for new success and chooses a Swedish tennis coach

Botic van de Zandschulp will collaborate with the Swedish tennis coach Johan Örtegren. The tennis player from Amstelveen had been looking for a new trainer since October. As a coach, the 45-year-old Örtegren played an important role in the successes of Swiss Stan Wawrinka, who won three Grand Slam tournaments.

“I am looking forward to working with Johan Örtegren and the Good to Great Academy. Preparations for the new season started on Monday. The coaching team will most likely be expanded even further in the coming period,” said 28-year-old Van de Zandschulp against the ANP.

Believe in his potential

Örtegren has worked in the past with the Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov and the now retired British Laura Robson. “I am very excited about this new challenge and to be part of ‘Team Botic’. I have been seeing Botic a lot lately,” said Örtegren. “He has an interesting game and can win points in many different ways. I really believe in his potential as a top tennis player and I am very much looking forward to entering into this partnership.”

Van de Zandschulp is number 50 in the world. He broke at the end of October with Sven Groeneveld, with whom he only worked for a few months. Before his period with Groeneveld, Van de Zandschulp was coached by Peter Lucassen. The new tennis season starts at the end of December. In the last month of the year, tennis players prepare for the upcoming tennis year.
