A van burned out on Willem Barentszstraat in Meppel last night. The van was parked along the road. Police suspect arson.
The fire service managed to extinguish the fire, but was unable to prevent a second car from also being damaged at the rear. The van is completely burnt out at the front.
The police woke up neighbors during the fire, because it was feared that the fire would spread to one of the houses.
According to bystanders, surveillance footage shows someone setting the car on fire. The police have now obtained the images and are investigating.
