Valtteri Bottas spoke openly about his distance to Lewis Hamilton

Valtteri Bottas has started the F1 season great. The Finn, who has joined Alfa Romeo, has kept a good start in the first two races of the season.

In Saudi Arabia, a good run pushed the break, but in the opening race in Bahrain, the man was sixth.

The pace of Mercedes, on the other hand, has fluctuated. Bottas’ ex-teammate Lewis Hamilton was third in Bahrain and tenth in Saudi Arabia.

Bottas told People magazine that he and Hamilton are still on excellent terms, even though the duo are now driving in different stables.

– On the lap after the (Bahrain) race, I drove past him and showed him my thumb when I heard he was on the podium. He looked back, Bottas said.

Braggart

Bottas and Hamilton spoke in praise of each other last season. Hamilton praised Nastola as his best teammate.

Bottas, for his part, admitted directly to Hamilton that the seven-time driver champion is the best in the world.

– After the race we flew together to Dubai and from there to Saudi Arabia. We still go on the same flights, so in a way nothing has changed, Bottas revealed to the magazine.

Bottas and Hamilton have been seen many times earlier this season together chatting and laughing at the F1 depots, even though the race overalls are different.

– We may not be teammates, but we are friends. That’s nice, we’re well connected, Bottas said.

Competition

Hamilton and Bottas drove Mersu together five times to become the team champion.

– We achieved a lot together as teammates. Such a basis for a long friendship.

According to Bottas, making friends in formulas is rare.

– It is difficult to make friends in the formulas when the track is competing against each other. We might learn that the race is a race, but outside the tracks you can go on the same flight or do anything together.
