Valtteri Bottas gasped handsomely fifth in Imola, but with bad luck the race could have ended already in the opening round. Bottas collided Daniel Ricciardoon.

This was not the first time Bottas had experienced a similar tire problem. Last year, he had to stop in Monaco when the Mersu depot team didn’t get the tire off the car at all. The car eventually had to rock all the way to the Mersu Brackley plant to get the rubber removed.
A year ago, the tire froze when a Mersu mechanic tried to loosen the nut in a slightly bad position. So the bolt gun ate all the “bite surface” from the nut, and a special tool was needed to remove the tire.
