Old champion and current top coach Vallu Kononen says that his proteges Aku Partanen the main species changes.

In the future, Partanen’s main distance is 20 kilometers.

– The battery has the characteristics for that side. This year, we have been training for the twenties, and next year we will compete on that route at the World Championships in Budapest, says Kononen.

A special change was made to the men’s race walk for this season, when the royal race 50 kilometers was removed from the program. “Pikakisa” 20 kilometers left and the second distance became 35 kilometers.

– Almost similar races are 20 and 35 kilometers.

Many people consider the reform stupid.

– I wouldn’t say it’s stupid. 20 kilometers is maybe five seconds harder than the anaerobic threshold, and this 35 kilometers maybe 2-3 seconds slower than the “anathreshold”, says Kononen.

– 50 kilometers was an aerobic threshold sport, and this is clearly a more aggressive sport. But you have to be fit. It is worth noting that the old walkers in their fifties do not have any seam at 35 kilometers. Quite a lot of them quit, Kononen continues.

Partanen sought a medal in Eugene on Sunday, but the 35-kilometer race ended in discus.

– One warning came for a knee and three for contact. They were certainly true judgments.

Kononen doesn’t talk for nothing. He said before the start that his shield is fine.

– It’s very sad. Actually, the whole year has gone well, until on the last hard run in Finland on July 11, my butt caught.

The problem was treated in the United States, and Kononen estimates that Saturday’s training was the first when Partase was pain-free.

– It was a bit visible in the competition that Aku wasn’t able to make the usual effort until the end. It said that the back and buttocks were still tight.
