The fashion house Valentino is expanding its second-hand initiative “Valentino Vintage”, which started in 2021 with four stores worldwide and has since grown to seven vintage stores. These include select stores in Milan (Madame Pauline), Paris (The Plaisir Palace), London (Rellik), Los Angeles (Recess), New York (New York Vintage), Seoul (Janemarch Maison) and Tokyo (The Vintage Dress).
With the initiative, Valentino invites its customers to bring their used Valentino garments to one of the vintage stores and exchange them for a new Valentino design. In this way, customers should “discover the beauty of past creations and participate in an alternative way of shopping,” according to the fashion house.
Valentino has also entered into a creative partnership with 1 Granary, the London-based talent education and support organization that brings together more than 30 fashion, design and art schools with a global student community to foster creativity and collaboration. Valentino wants to support engagement initiatives while making resources available to students.
A curated selection of five Valentino vintage looks will be donated to seven community fashion and art schools in order to share craftsmanship and know-how, “while discovering the iconic codes of craftsmanship and the Maison’s aesthetic universe,” reads the press release. The seven schools participating in the program associated with Valentino Vintage include IED in Milan, Institut Français de la Mode in Paris, Central Saint Martins in London, Otis College of Art and Design in Los Angeles, Coconogacco in Tokyo, Esmod in Seoul and the Parsons School of Design in New York.
