Valentijn Driessen is not at all looking forward to a TV comeback from Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. He saw him at work at Özcan Akyol’s book presentation and ‘I can’t stand it’.
Özcan Akyol has presented the first copy of his new book to Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. A camera crew from Today Inside was also present at that PR thing and the images are somewhat uncomfortable: Özcan is endlessly complimented by Matthijs. “How much cock can fit in his mouth?” sneers Guido den Attractor.
Valentine bashes Matthijs
Sports journalist Valentijn Driessen from De Telegraaf doesn’t like it either, he says at the table Today Inside. “Then I would feel terribly embarrassed, really. Yeah, I couldn’t stand it. I have seen it now and then I also thought: I am glad that that program is no longer there.”
Valentijn is referring to De Wereld Draait Door, in which Matthijs always completely praised his guests. Johan Derksen: “Yes, no, he was practicing for the good news show!”

Greatest TV icon
Wilfred Genee thinks Valentine’s Day is very strict. “Hey, whoa, wait, you’re talking about a TV icon, right? Perhaps the greatest ever.”
Valentine: “Yes, but I’m not looking forward to this kind of television.”
Johan: “It’s his friend and it was a private matter and Joey from us happened to be there with his camera.”
Wilfred: “Well, coincidentally not, because we knew it.”
Nice things
Johan comes to the rescue for Matthijs. “And when you present a friend’s book, you say nice things, even me.”
René: “He was a master at praising people at the table.”
Valentine: “Yes, that.”
René: “And those people started to believe in themselves very much. That was also the program. That if you sat there, you really belonged. You were above it all.”
