The Spanish sports newspaper “AS” Based in Madrid, with reference to its own information, announced that FC Barcelona had agreed with FC Valencia on the transfer of Carlos Soler. Cost point: 20 million euros fee. The commitment is made possible by Barça’s decision to sell midfielder Frenkie de Jong (24), who is expected to bring in 70 million euros. On Monday morning, just a short time later, Valencia officially took a stand – and clearly rejected the newspaper’s report.
“In response to the information published in AS on Monday, Valencia FC categorically denies that there is any agreement or negotiation with FC Barcelona regarding the transfer of Carlos Soler,” the Blanquinegros club said in a statement. “The club is currently negotiating with the player and his agents to extend his contract with FC Valencia.”

The 25-year-old Soler still has a contract until 2023, with a market value of 50 million euros, the Valencia-born and trained professional is the most valuable player in the squad. Solers’ release clause, which is required by law in Spain, was raised to €150 million in December 2019. In the current season, the international has scored twelve goals and five assists in 34 games in all competitions.

Update May 3, 12:39 p.m.: As the Catalan newspaper “Sports‘ reported it is very unlikely that Soler will sign a new contract in Valencia due to economic and sporting reasons. Accordingly, he has aroused the interest of several clubs in Europe, including FC Barcelona, despite denials. The Spanish giants are said to have already informed themselves about Soler’s situation and whether the midfielder could imagine a move to Barça.
