Vagabond Shoemakers is driving global expansion and opening its own concept store on the e-commerce platform Tmall, which belongs to the Chinese Alibaba Group.
The Swedish shoe brand wants to enter the Asian market, Vagabond announced on Monday. But Tmall is not the only Asian sales channel. The company has recently started working with a distributor in South Korea and is available at local retailers in Japan.
“We are pleased that we can now focus more on the Asian markets, and launching on Tmall is a big step for us,” said Vagabond CEO Anders Odén. “We see great interest in our products from all parts of the world and are focused on adapting to the local market, not least to avoid unnecessary freight for sustainability reasons.”
Vagabond is already available in more than 45 markets, including the US, Canada, the UK and “most European countries,” according to the statement.
