Uwe Seeler would have no problem at all if Thomas Müller from FC Bayern were to draw level with him in the all-time top scorer list of the German national soccer team with another international goal.
“I’ll take a very close look at the international matches against Israel and the Netherlands and of course celebrate goals from Müller,” Seeler told the “Bild” newspaper: “I’m very honored if this exceptional footballer from FC Bayern has scored more goals soon will than me.”
Before the first international matches of the year on Saturday (8:45 p.m. / ZDF) in Sinsheim against Israel and three days later in the Netherlands, Müller (42 goals) is only one goal behind Seeler in ninth place.
“Thomas’ performance cannot be overestimated, since he does not act as a classic center forward for the national team,” said the Hamburger SV icon.
Müller recently spoke with great respect about Seeler. “To be on the same level as the legends who have shaped world football in the last century,” said the Bayern professional, “that’s a great thing that you never dared to dream of as a child.”
