USA move 7000 more soldiers to Germany

The US government moves 7,000 more soldiers to Europe after Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

They would be deployed in the coming days and initially stationed in Germany, the Defense Ministry said on Thursday. US President Joe Biden had previously announced the transfer, but without naming the number of soldiers affected.

“They will be stationed in Germany as insurance for NATO allies to deter Russian aggression and to be ready to support a wide range of needs in the region,” the Pentagon said.

Biden also emphasized: “Our armed forces are not going to Europe to fight in Ukraine, but to defend our NATO allies and to calm the allies in the east.”

Most recently, Biden had already announced the transfer of around 6,000 additional soldiers to Eastern Europe because of the Ukraine conflict. According to the US military, it currently has more than 90,000 soldiers in Europe, around 35,000 of them in Germany.
