Even though Ricky Rich had landed some big hits in recent years, the single “Habibi”, released in 2017, became a viral TikTok banger during the corona pandemic. The song can now be heard in different versions and has over 190 million streams on Spotify alone. Thanks to TikTok, the track has not only made waves in Germany, but also globally – it recently achieved platinum status in India.
Now a very special collaboration ensures that the song stays in your head: Together with A Boogie With da Hoodie, Ricky Rich has once again reinterpreted the song.
Bronx-based artist Artist Dubose, better known as A Boogie Wit Da Hoodierose to fame on the rap scene with the song “Still Think About You” and his 2016 debut mixtape ARTIST. The young star also released the five-time platinum single “Drowning” feat. Kodak Black and the quadruple platinum song “Look Back At It”. No wonder the New York Times also called A Boogie “the most promising young rapper” the city has produced in a while.
He recently commented on his contribution to “Habibi”: “The song has the right vibe. I’m happy to be a part of it.” And Ricky Rich can hardly believe his luck: “Having A Boogie on ‘Habibi’ is amazing. Ricky Rich: Between Struggle and Fame
Ricky Rich is one of the most streamed Swedish artists in recent years. With the concept album RICO SUAVE he reported back at the beginning of the summer and addressed his complex relationship to success and money: “Many people around me knew that I lived a certain way. But not that many have known how I felt when they weren’t there — when I was alone and back to reality.”
The feeling of loneliness was particularly strong during the pandemic: Even if Ricky Rich wanted nothing more than to go on stage and celebrate his successes live: he not only had to wait for concerts to be possible again, but also at times isolate because he suffers from PCD, a rare congenital respiratory disease and therefore his lung capacity is severely restricted.
Despite health challenges, Ricky Rich remains on the road to success. After the release with Boogie, he has more than 20,000 new TikTok followers. “Habibi” has also landed in more than ten New Music Friday playlists globally. It really couldn’t be any better for the trendy Swede!
