US stock exchanges close well in the black: Dow Jones now at a historic high – also the S&P 500 and NASDAQ 100 with new records

Before the weekend, the US stock markets noticeably increased their initially small gains during trading.

Positive quarterly figures and optimistic profit prospects from some large companies, including those in the technology sector, led to increasing investor interest in buying. New US economic data was mixed.

The Dow Jones rose to a historic high of 37,933.73 points and ultimately gained 1.05 percent to 37,863.80 points. The market-wide S&P 500 also reached a record high of 4,842.07 points and was ultimately 1.23 percent higher at 4,839.81 points. The NASDAQ 100 rose above the 17,000 point mark for the first time in its history, also continuing its record run. Ultimately, the technology-heavy stock market barometer gained 1.95 percent to 17,314.00 points.
