According to Managing Director Carnevali
The Italian first division club US Sassuolo is threatened with the departure of several top performers after the end of the season. “The wish would be not to sell anyone, but that is unrealistic,” said managing director Giovanni Carnevali in an interview with the “Gazzetta dello Sport“ and confirmed that other clubs are interested in the most valuable professionals in the squad and have in some cases made inquiries. “Do you know which Sassuolo player has the most requests?” asked Carnevali before naming Maxime López (24). The Frenchman came from Olympique Marseille for €2m before the start of the season and increased his market value from €12m to €14m in the latest update.
Clubs from both Serie A and the Premier League are said to be interested in the midfielder. “Like everyone else, he will be sold if I find a good player for this role,” said Carnevali, who is willing to give up his top performers for a transfer fee of EUR 30 million. “I wouldn’t want to sell anyone, fortunately Sassuolo has the financial strength to keep all its jewels.” However, it becomes “more difficult to keep them” with high-priced offers from other clubs. That could happen with striker Gianluca Scamacca (23), who is the second most valuable player in the squad with a market value of €30m.
Carnevali confirmed that Inter Milan have “expressed their interest”. It wouldn’t be the first time that the Milanese have struck gold with the Neroverdi. In 2020, the Nerazzurri made midfielder Stefano Sensi (26) the most expensive sale in US Sassuolo club history for €25m. In courting Scamacca, whose contract is valid until 2025, Inter should not stand alone and, above all, have competition from the English upper house. “Gianluca has many offers,” said Carnevali of the Italian international, who has also been linked to Borussia Dortmund and other Bundesliga clubs in the TM rumor mill. “He still has to develop and maybe he has to stay with us for another year,” Carnevali advised the attacker to stay.
US Sassuolo’s chief executive Carnevali: Berardi would be a ‘perfect’ fit for AC Milan
The managing director also has a similar opinion about midfielder Davide Frattesi (22) and attacker Hamed Junior Traorè (22), who were recently among the market value winners and posted an increase to 20 and 22 million euros respectively. The latter should be the focus of SSC Napoli and English clubs. Meanwhile, Carnevali advertised Domenico Berardi (27), who is the Neroverdi’s most valuable professional with a market value of 35 million euros. The top scorer in Serie A with 28 goals in 27 appearances would be a “perfect” match for AC Milan. “If I were the manager of a top Italian club, he would be the first player I would bring,” said Carnevali. Last year, Berardi was on the verge of a move to Fiorentina, but the offer from league rivals “was out of the question for him”.
