Wimbledon finalist Ons Jabeur has reached the third round at the US Open in New York. Andy Murray made it there for the first time in six years.
The 28-year-old Tunisian prevailed in her second-round duel against Elizabeth Mandlik from the USA 7: 5, 6: 2. Jabeur remains in the last Grand Slam tournament of the year without losing a set. It was also the 40th win of the season for Jabeur, who reached this mark as the second tennis player after the world number one Iga Swiatek from Poland.
In the next round on Friday, however, a more difficult task awaits Jabeur, who is number five. Opponent is Shelby Rogers from the USA. The world rankings-31. won in round two against Slovakian Viktoria Kuzmova 7:5, 6:1.

Andy Murray reached the third round of the US Open for the men for the first time in six years. The three-time Grand Slam tournament winner also won his second match at the hard court tournament in New York by beating Emilio Nava from the USA 5:7, 6:3, 6:1 and 6:0.

Nava was allowed to start at the last Grand Slam tournament of the year due to a wildcard. In the next round, 35-year-old Murray, who won the 2012 US Open, meets either 13th-seeded Matteo Berrettini or France’s Hugo Grenier.
