US medicine watchdog gives green light to omikron vaccines Pfizer and Moderna

The American drug watchdog FDA gave the green light on Wednesday for the modified corona vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. These so-called bivalent vaccines are effective against the original corona variant as well as against the omikron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5 that are currently circulating. The European Medicines Agency EMA is also expected to make a statement on Thursday about modified corona vaccines, although they do focus on an earlier variant of omikron.
