WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) – In response to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the United States has imposed new sanctions on a number of companies. The US government accuses them of helping Moscow procure weapons and thus supporting the war. Specifically, it is about a Russian company specializing in the manufacture and production of microelectronics and three companies related to the company – in Armenia, Taiwan and Switzerland.
Further sanctions were directed against “a global network” linked to two Russian businessmen close to the Kremlin who have their assets, or at least parts of them, managed in the West, the US Treasury Department said on Monday.
Overall, the United States imposed sanctions on 14 people and 28 entities, including two Swiss nationals and several companies in Switzerland and France. As a result of the sanctions, any assets in the US of those affected will be frozen. US citizens are prohibited from doing business with them. International business is also usually made much more difficult for those affected by the sanctions./trö/DP/he
