Representatives of US shale gas companies discussed with officials and commercial buyers from European countries the expansion of US fuel supplies to Europe, writes Reuters with reference to the head of the industry association LNG Allies, Fred Hutchinson.
The meeting in Houston (US state of Texas) was attended by delegations from Latvia and Estonia, diplomats from Bulgaria, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia and Great Britain.
“The situation in Europe is very precarious. All these countries that depend on Russian gas are firm in their desire to refuse [от этой зависимости], in some cases completely,” Hutchinson said. He noted existing capacity issues that would likely see deliveries of the right amount by mid-decade, but said there were “extraordinary opportunities” for development over the next few years.
