South Korea also reported a new missile test in the north on Wednesday, but Seoul says it appears to have failed, Yonhap news agency reported. The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal has expressed concern about missile launches that are not announced in advance. They pose a serious threat to civil aviation in the region, according to the ICAO.
North Korea has conducted several missile tests this year. The Stalinist-ruled country has been out of talks since 2019 to ban weapons of mass destruction from the region. The US is trying in vain to persuade the North Korean regime led by dictator Kim Jong-un to stop developing and producing nuclear weapons. The country has to deal with numerous sanctions, including those imposed by the UN, because of the nuclear program.
