US bonds: 10-year yield remains at 16-year high

NEW YORK (dpa-AFX) – US government bonds turned negative on Tuesday after initial price gains. The futures contract for ten-year bonds (T-Note Future) recently fell by 0.10 percent to 108.06 points. Ten-year Treasuries yielded a 16-year high of 4.57 percent.

Consumer sentiment in the USA deteriorated surprisingly significantly in September. Consumer confidence fell by 5.7 points to 103.0 points compared to the previous month, according to market research institute Conference Board. Analysts on average had only expected a decline to 105.5 points. Consumer expectations have deteriorated noticeably. However, the assessment of the current situation improved somewhat.
