US backs Ukraine with new $1.1 billion weapons package

The United States is preparing a new weapons package worth 1.1 billion dollars (more than 1.1 billion euros) to support Ukraine in the war against Russia. According to US officials, the support will be officially announced in a few days.

The new package will include Himars missile installations, accompanying ammunition, anti-drone systems and radar systems. In addition, spare parts and money for training and technical support are also included.

The US has provided more than $15 billion in military aid to Ukraine since the war broke out.

In addition to a new arms package, Washington is also preparing new sanctions against Russia. The sanctions were prompted by referenda in four occupied regions in Ukraine on joining Russia. Russian officials claim residents voted overwhelmingly for annexation. Ukraine and Western allies, however, see the referenda as shams whose outcome was predetermined.
