He did not want to compare what has been offered to Catalonia in this negotiation with respect to the pending transfer to Euskadi in this matter and has insisted that the Basque Country has “a Statute of Autonomy that is still pending to be fulfilled.”
He recalled that “the Spanish Government and the PSOE have acquired a commitment again” by reaching an agreement with the PNV for compliance with the Statute and the development of Basque self-government.
“We are in a period precisely in which one of the commitments on the part of the PSOE must now be expressed” regarding this area of competence related to migration policy, he stressed.
He has insisted that this claim is not new, that it is contemplated in the Statute and that “it must be completed by the Government.”
The competence on reception of migrants is one of the three subjects that should be transferred to Euskadi in the next three months and that PSOE and PNV included in the agreement for the support of the nationalists for the investiture of Pedro Sánchez.
