The next iPhone update is imminent. Apple has announced the iOS 17.2 beta for developers (and public). Some useful and, most importantly, long-awaited features will come with the new version of the mobile operating system. TECHBOOK took a closer look at the beta of iOS 17.2 and reveals what iPhone users can look forward to.
Journal app comes to iPhone with iOS 17.2
With the announcement of iOS 17, there was speculation about a kind of diary for the iPhone and now it is current. The “Journal” app comes with iOS 17.2. Basically, the application is not particularly complicated and is actually explained quickly. You can write down your thoughts there and keep it as a diary. The app pulls data collected from the device, for example from new photos, locations, etc., and connects it with the user entries. Apple promises that the data collected or drawn will not be passed on, but will only be used for the app.
TECHBOOK has already taken a first look at the “Journal” app as part of the beta test.
These innovations also come with iOS 17.2
In addition to the “Journal” app, there will be further innovations and features with iOS 17.2. You can find out which ones are the most important or most interesting below:

This feature is intended for iPhone 15 users. In the future, you will be able to have various texts translated using the action button. The function uses the languages that you have set up in the translation app.
Contact key confirmation on iMessage
This update is especially important for those who work with sensitive messages. These could be politicians, journalists or even activists. This involves verifying the contact you are talking to or writing to. If an unknown device comes into the conversation, you will be informed about it. In this way, cyber threats can ideally be prevented.
Shared playlists and favorites lists on Apple Music
With the new feature in iOS 17.2, you can now create playlists that multiple people can access. You can then either share the link to the playlist or invite people via a QR code. The app also has the function that tracks you have selected as favorites are summarized in a list.
Sticker reaction on iMessages
There are now sticker options for the Messages app. While originally you could only add standard tapback replies, there is now the option to reply with stickers and stickers.
Weather widgets
iOS 17.2 also brings new widgets that show details, daily forecasts, and sunrise/sunset. You can also see precipitation, UV index, air quality, etc.
