Banks are constantly updating their apps to ideally make them better. A useful function has currently been rolled out for the ING online banking app, which can be particularly helpful for transfers.
Updates to the apps are basically nothing exciting. Often these are various error fixes or bug fixes. But every now and then there are also useful functional extensions. This is the case in the current update of the ING online banking app. Some new features have been integrated for both Android and iOS users. Among other things, the transfer templates.

Create transfer templates in the ING app
Transfer templates can be quite practical. If you don’t have automated, recurring payments (e.g. SEPA mandate) but still need to transfer something regularly, a template can help. The iOS version of the ING app was updated with version number 6.6.1 (as of October 22, 2023). The “management of transfer templates” was introduced. The new feature is basically self-explanatory. Users can create transfer templates directly in the app and in the future will no longer be forced to repeatedly enter IBAN, recipient, BIC, etc., but can simply select the appropriate transfer template from the existing transfer templates and send the money conveniently.
This is particularly practical because previously you had to switch to classic online banking, i.e. the web version, to manage the transfer templates. Now you can make changes, administrations, etc. in the ING app. It also says that “bug fixes and small improvements” have been made. What exactly it is is not specified in more detail.

Android users also get new features in the “ING Banking to go” app
The transfer template in the ING app was already available on Android devices. ING customers can still look forward to some innovations. The update with version number 6.5.1 has been rolled out since October 18, 2023 and includes the following points:
- Display of the composition of ETFs/funds on the security portrait pages
- Bug fixes and small improvements
- Optimizations in the post box (e.g. archiving, deleting, sharing documents)
Despite the new functions, the updates for both iOS and Android are relatively light and manageable, which of course does not mean that they are not useful.
TECHBOOK means
“This innovation is definitely useful and helpful for iOS users. Transfer templates can make things a lot easier. For example, such templates can help with annual insurance payments, as you don’t have to constantly look for the IBAN or the monthly deduction, but can use the ready-made transfer template.” – Isa Kabakci, editor
