FC Bayern has started negotiations regarding Matthijs de Ligt. Although Munich failed with their first offer to Juventus Turin, a transfer of the 22-year-old Dutchman is likely. De Ligt’s arrival would have a direct impact on Dayot Upamecano’s situation at the Bundesliga club.
The 23-year-old has had a difficult debut season with FC Bayern and has not always cut the best figure in the center of defence. A commitment from de Ligt would make the competition in Munich’s central defense even greater, especially since veteran Lucas Hernández and the two talents Tanguy Nianzou and Chris Richards are still in the squad.
Recently, rumors have even been circulating that Upamecano is threatened with Bayern Munich’s end. “Sky” has now contradicted this speculation. As a result, the Frenchman will “definitely” remain on Säbener Strasse. Upamecano is “not a candidate for change,” they say.
