Up to 8 years in prison for men who committed robberies on Van der Gijp and De Jager | NOW

On Friday, the Rotterdam court sentenced the suspects of robberies on René van der Gijp and Nikkie de Jager to prison terms of up to eight years. A total of eight men were charged.

The court imposed prison sentences of seven years and 5.5 years on two Rotterdammers. 33-year-old Said O. was acquitted of the armed robbery of De Jager, because it cannot be proved based on his telephone records that he was in De Jager’s residence during the robbery. 21-year-old Younes S. from Ridderkerk has been sentenced to eight years in prison, one year more than required.

The men committed four robberies and three burglaries in 2020. The robbers struck in Rotterdam, Dordrecht, Krimpen aan den IJssel, Rockanje, Hendrik-Ido-Ambacht, Mijnsheerenland and Uden.

According to the Public Prosecution Service, the eight suspects aged 21 to 33 would form a criminal organization, but the court was not convinced of this. The court ruled that it could not be established that there was a partnership and acquitted all eight suspects of this.

In August 2020, De Jager, also known as NikkieTutorials, and her fiancé were robbed in their home. A bag and various jewelry were stolen during the armed robbery. The victims were tied to chairs and threatened with a firearm.

The robbery on Van der Gijp took place a few months earlier, but no loot was taken. The analyst of Veronica Inside was met by three men with hammers. The men tried to smash the windows of Van der Gijp’s car, but they turned out to be armored and did not yield. Van der Gijp was therefore able to escape.
