Up to 2 years in prison for the person who insulted Hikmet Karaman on social media

A lawsuit has been filed against the accused Oğuz T., who was tried pending trial on the allegation that Hikmet Karaman cursed himself on his social media account while he was the coach of Kayserispor, with a demand for imprisonment from 3 months to 2 years.

The incident took place in Kayseri on September 15 last year. Allegedly, a person named Oğuz T. commented on the former coach of Kayserispor, Hikmet Karaman, from his social media account, “Did you see that the team will be relegated, Druze” and cursed. Upon the complaint, the Kayseri Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office conducted an investigation against the suspect Oğuz T. and an indictment was issued. Within the scope of the indictment, a lawsuit was filed, demanding a prison sentence of 3 months to 2 years on the charge of ‘insulting with an audio, written or video message’.

Oğuz T., whose statement was also included in the indictment accepted by Kayseri 12th Criminal Court of First Instance judge Birol Küçük, said, “The social media account in question belongs to me. I regret that I made the alleged posts.”

The accused Oğuz T. will appear in court for the first time in the coming days.
