He was already under discussion with the “Reds”, now the change is perfect: Darwin Núñez is moving from Lisbon to Liverpool FC – and could still outdo a new teammate.
Benfica Lisbon have agreed to transfer Darwin Núñez to Liverpool FC. The Portuguese first division club announced on Monday that the 22-year-old international from Uruguay will join coach Jürgen Klopp in the Premier League for a transfer fee of 75 million euros. With bonus payments, the transfer volume could increase to 100 million euros. Núñez is yet to sign his contract with the Reds.
Núñez is considered Liverpool’s successor to Sadio Mané, who is under discussion at Bayern Munich. According to media reports, the German soccer record champion has already made two offers for the Senegalese, which the Reds rejected as too low.
Darwin Núñez is the new record transfer at Liverpool FC. The English runners-up had spent the most on defense boss Virgil van Dijk with a fee of more than 84 million euros.
