This has never happened before: “Tagesthemen” presenter Caren Miosga was surrounded by her colleagues during her last presentation of the ARD news program on Erste.

The 54-year-old presented the “Tagesthemen” for the last time in the TV studio on the NDR site in Hamburg on Thursday evening after 16 years. Next year she will succeed Sunday political talker Anne Will in the first. Miosga was the longest-serving “Tagesthemen” presenter. 2.47 million viewers (13.1 percent) watched her farewell on the television from 10:15 p.m.

Before, during and at the end of the “Tagesthemen” program, colleagues expressed their appreciation. “Panorama” presenter Anja Reschke before the start as well as her colleagues from the stock market and the weather on the show wished her all the best for the next step in her career. Jens Riewa, who spoke on the news portion of the show, presented her with a Snoopy figurine for her “infinite sympathy and empathy.”

When she said goodbye, Miosga said, among other things, into the camera: “Be nice to Jessy Wellmer, she is too.” Miosga is followed by the previous ARD “Sportschau” presenter, Jessy Wellmer (43). When it starts is not yet known.

Miosga’s “Tagesthemen” presenter colleague Ingo Zamperoni also came into the picture and thanked the 54-year-old for unique “Tagesthemen” moments. A compilation of extraordinary scenes from Miosga’s presentations was shown. Then colleagues surrounded the moderator.

With a view to her new role as host of a talk show, Miosga said in an interview with the German Press Agency: “I have always followed political talk intensively. And you can guess what I’m most looking forward to. The people are physically sitting in front of me and I have more time to ask questions.”
