Untouchable Irene Schouten triumphs in Enschede, a few hours after winning 3000 meters

Only a few hours after her victory in the 3000 meters at the World Cup qualification, Irene Schouten was back on the ice. She participated in the second race of the Marathon Cup. That was not a bad choice for the skater from Hoogkarspel, because in Enschede she again proved to be the best after eighty laps.

The podium also consisted of Ineke Dedden (second) and Maaike Verweij (third). Compared to the first Marathon Cup at the Jaap Edenbaan in Amsterdam, the difference was smaller. The difference between Schouten and Dedden was minimal (45:48.270 to 45:48.732). The victory puts the West Frisian at the top of the general classification with 108 points. Verweij is second with 84 points.

The skater from Hoogkarspel will be in action tomorrow in the 3000 meters and the mass start in the qualification for the World Cup.

The competition was won by the Belgian Bart Swings. Janissen has dropped to second place in the general classification, his place has been taken over by Swings.
