visby – The Baltic front is once again topical due to the war in Ukraine. Controlling the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea has a huge strategic advantage and so Gotland was “fought” earlier this month. NATO, together with Swedish and Finnish units, exercised, among other things, the defense and recapture of this Swedish island in the Baltic Sea. The Russian navy kept a close eye on the military exercise, called Baltops 22. Is the ‘unsinkable aircraft carrier’ the new Cold War front with Russia?
