Millions of books are published every year, but what happens to books that had the ambition to be published but never did? Gummbah, the stage name of Gertjan van Leeuwen (56), has been ‘collecting’ such books for almost forty years.
In 2010 he bundled a large part of his collection in the aptly titled Just unpublished booksincluding the classics Embroidery with clenched fists and Houses that resemble Ronald Koeman. In the thirteen years that followed, Van Leeuwen continued imperturbably with the collection of books that, for various reasons, just failed to reach the printing press.
