‘Unprecedented’ increase in petrol price: 4 cents per liter more | Money

Today the suggested retail price is €2.279 per liter, after an increase of €0.024 per liter on Wednesday. This means that for the first time above €2.30 is refueled.

“Never before has the price rise been so extreme on a single day,” says director Paul van Selms of the consumer collective United Consumers, which keeps track of the recommended retail price.

Incidentally, that price is only charged along the main traffic roads, local gas stations deviate from this. Especially in the north, prices are substantially lower.

Almost 65% of the liter price of petrol goes to excise duty and VAT.
