Unlucky bird Mart Lieder wants to flame in the Eredivisie next season

The football life of Mart Lieder sometimes has difficult moments. The FC Emmen striker tore his cruciate ligament for the third time at the end of February. And that means back into the long rehabilitation process. We visited the unlucky person in Amsterdam where he is convalescing. “Biggest challenge is the mental part.”

During the winter break, Mart Lieder made the step from the Danish Odense BK to FC Emmen. The born Purmerender has not been able to enjoy his comeback in the Netherlands for a long time. In the match against Jong Ajax on 25 February, Lieder fell unluckily in a fairly innocent duel and tore his cruciate ligament again. This time his left knee, while the cruciate ligaments of his right knee had been torn off twice before.

Next season

Lieder has now undergone surgery and is in the middle of his rehabilitation. Recovery from such a serious cruciate ligament injury often takes around nine months. The 31-year-old attacker is now focusing on next season and, as it looks now, the Eredivisie. “I want to flame in the Eredivisie with FC Emmen next season.” The leader of the first division will play against Jong AZ tonight.
