Universities make their own student rooms up to 35 percent more expensive: the cheapest room in Ghent already costs 357 euros per month

The student rooms that are run by the universities themselves will be a lot more expensive next academic year, up to 35 percent. For example, the cheapest room at Ghent University already costs 357 euros per month. However, these student rooms are mainly for students who are struggling financially. The universities say they have no choice because the costs are also rising for them. Private rooms are still more expensive: they cost an average of 440 euros this year, even 6 percent more expensive than last year.
