Unity council Noordenveld hopes for a quick move equestrian center Roden

The Noordenveld city council seems to agree without murmuring with an amount of more than 1.7 million euros for the relocation of riding school De Hulhorst. The college of mayor and aldermen is asked to make haste with the choice of location.

The riding school on the Hullenweg is very outdated and is therefore ready for a move, now that new construction at the same location seems to have already been completed. “There has been talk of a possible relocation since 2014,” says Henk van Dijk of the Mensinghe Driving and Men’s Association. The association owns the riding school in Roden-South.

Location unknown

After many discussions, there is finally a council proposal. In it, the Commission proposes to free up a maximum of 1.7 million euros for the relocation. “In combination with self-reliance and tapping into various subsidies, we see opportunities to actually complete the relocation,” says Van Dijk.

There is no location yet, although the Esweg between Roden and Roderesch is being looked at. Three different scenarios have been worked out at that location by the Noordenveld municipality, which are being further studied by the association and the municipality.

Hurry up

The riding school has meanwhile become so outdated that, according to Van Dijk, the Royal Dutch Equestrian Sports Federation already wanted to pull the plug. “We are in consultation with the municipality, otherwise it would already be the end of the exercise,” he says.

“It has to change, especially in the field of animal welfare. We will not keep this up for another year in this way. It is urgent.”

Motion

The question whether the riding school could also manage with a smaller amount was answered with a clear ‘no’ by Van Dijk. “There is little margin on the amount. We have to be creative now.”

The VVD has already announced that it will submit a motion next week in which the party urges the council to make a choice of location this year.
