United States announces new sanctions against Belarus | Abroad

The US Treasury Department has “blocked” the Boeing 737 used by Lukashenko for official and private travel. This makes the maintenance of the aircraft a lot more difficult, because, among other things, the supply of new parts is theoretically prohibited.

In addition, the ministry also announced sanctions against two state-owned companies, BelAZ, which sells dump trucks, and MAZ, which produces buses and trucks.

In particular, Washington accuses both companies of intimidating workers who took part in the strikes and protests following Lukashenko’s controversial re-election. At MAZ they were even sent out.

Finally, some new members of the Electoral Commission were also put on the list.

Lukashenko’s regime has been targeted for years by US and European sanctions.
