Union Berlin coach Urs Fischer intends not to be blinded by the injury plight of opponent Borussia Mönchengladbach.
“The Mönchengladbachers have to complain about one or the other injury. But I find enough quality in them when I look at the line-up. Above all, they try to find playful solutions,” said the Swiss fisherman on the Saturday before the game on Sunday (3:30 p.m.).
The Lower Rhine team is missing Ko Itakura, Stefan Lainer, Florian Neuhaus, Yann Sommer and Hannes Wolf, among others.
Fischer’s team went into the 12th match day as leaders. It should stay that way after the final whistle. In terms of personnel, the Swiss can again rely on a full squad. There is not a single injured or sick player. Also striker Sven Michael is available again after surviving the corona infection.
As part of the game, two former Union players are said goodbye afterwards. The first is goalkeeper Andreas Luthe, who switched to second division club 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the summer. On the other hand, defender Marvin Friedrich, who accepted an offer from Mönchengladbach in January.
