He had to wait a while for this moment! Timo Baumgartl was allowed to show himself for the first time since the beginning of November and the 13th match day (0:5 in Leverkusen). His performance against Schalke: neat!
The defender after the game: “I’m happy that I was allowed to play.” As in the group stage, Baumgartl was not registered for the European Cup.
He says honestly: “The decision by the club, by the coach. I have to accept that. Whether you are happy or not is an open question. I’m professional enough.”
Against Schalke, Baumgartl also benefited from the absence of Diogo Leite due to illness and was ahead of Paul Jaeckel. Coach Urs Fischer explains: “We were more convinced of Timo.”
