The Africa Cup of Nations starts in Cameroon in January. Many stars like Sadio Mané, Franck Kessié and Mohamed Salah will be there. But there are also prominent participants from the Bundesliga.
Union Berlin has to do without top striker Taiwo Awoniyi at the beginning of the second half of the Bundesliga. The 24-year-old, who has scored nine goals in the first 17 games of the season, is in Nigeria’s squad for the Africa Cup in Cameroon (January 9th to February 6th). Defender Jamilu Collins from SC Paderborn is also nominated from the 2nd Bundesliga.

The Africa Cup was supposed to take place at the beginning of 2021, but was postponed for a year due to the corona pandemic. Nigeria meets Egypt, Sudan and Guinea-Bissau in the group.
