Union player Kevin Volland had an expensive watch stolen while celebrating. A teammate is said to have pursued and caught the thief.
Long-time national player Kevin Volland is said to have had a watch worth 180,000 euros stolen while partying in mid-February. This is what “Bild” reports. The theft is said to have occurred after Volland’s club Union Berlin’s game against TSG Hoffenheim.
After his team’s hard-fought 1-0 victory, the professional was out and about in Berlin-Mitte at 3 a.m. Then it happened: An unknown person is said to have approached Volland and distracted him. According to the report, he managed to slip the watch, a Patek Philippe Nautilus in rose gold, from the footballer’s wrist.
As a result, there is said to have been a scuffle, and the perpetrator then fled – and was pursued by another Union star.
Roussillon presents thief – watch badly damaged
Jérôme Roussillon, defender of the Berlin club, had observed the situation, according to “Bild”. The Frenchman, who was probably just about to take a taxi home, is said to have immediately ran after the perpetrator. As did Volland, who fell and sustained minor injuries.
Roussillon, in turn, caught the 16-year-old thief, it is said. The police then arrived. The perpetrator is said to have been arrested. “We are investigating the alleged perpetrator for serious theft and damage to property,” the police confirmed the incident, but did not give any names.
Bitter for Volland: According to the report, the watch is badly damaged. The perpetrator dropped her while escaping.
