The transfer of Brenden Aaronson (22 / Leeds United) to 1. FC Union is official. The midfielder is on a year-long loan from the Premier League relegated team.
The American stayed at the Alte Försterei on Sunday to clarify the last details. Manager Oliver Ruhnert (51): “We were very happy about Brenden’s commitment, he’s a type of player that we don’t have that will do our offensive game good. Despite his young age, he already has a lot of international experience and will complement our squad at a high level.”
The national player is considered a classic ten, who has his strength in one-on-one situations. A year ago it cost almost 33 million euros, which went to Red Bull Salzburg. Nobody at Union is currently surpassing his current market value of 25 million euros.
Aaronson: “Union’s path and the success of recent years have not gone unnoticed in the USA, Austria or England. A year ago I wouldn’t have believed that I’m here and can play in the Champions League with Union. I look forward to the year ahead with joy and confidence and I want to help ensure that we have another successful season.”
Aaronson is the third new signing after midfielder Alex Kral (25/last Schalke) and striker Mikkel Kaufmann (22/last Karlsruhe).
