Unioner was already an issue in the summer
Benedict Hollerbach is one of five center forwards in Union Berlin’s squad, has only been on the pitch for 283 minutes this Bundesliga season and could therefore join another club in the winter. According to “Sport Bild”, VfL Bochum is a contender for the 22-year-old. The Revierklub is said to have had an eye on the attacker in the summer before the ex-Wiesbaden player decided to move to the “Köpenickers”.
There is a need at VfL because top goalscorer Takuma Asano (29; six goals) is taking part in the Asian Championship (January 12th to February 10th) with Japan. Hollerbach could take his place on loan. According to the report, a deal should not fail due to money, as the Bochum team have not yet fully exhausted their budget of 41 million euros this season. 2 million euros should be available for winter transfers.
Hollerbach joined Union in July for 2 million euros, as did the other center forwards Kevin Volland and Mikkel Kaufmann, but only made seven mostly short appearances under former coach Urs Fischer and failed to score a goal. Under his successor Nenad Bjelica, he was recently in the starting line-up twice and also scored his first Union goal against Gladbach. It is said that Bochum is hoping for a commitment, but is also preparing alternatives based on recent developments.
