Union Berlin lose points in battle for European football

Union Berlin has lost points in the Bundesliga against closing in Greuther Fürth. The number 6 in the German league did not go further than 1-1 against the already relegated club.

Union remains in sixth place with 51 points. That is one less than SC Freiburg and three less than number 4 RB Leipzig. Those two teams will play against Hoffenheim and Borussia Mönchengladbach in this round, respectively.

Branimir Hrgota gave the visitors the lead in Berlin after more than half an hour. Fürth, where Nick Viergever and Jetro Willems played the entire match, did not manage to maintain that position. Sven Michel brought Union to 1-1, but the Berliners were unable to prevent a loss of points.
